Study Abroad trips coming in 2017

Grand View University is offering five different study abroad programs for students in the spring/summer of 2017. These study abroad trips, ranging from Australia to France, from Denmark to Peru, apply to a variety of majors and offer students special opportunities.

Ashland, Oregon 

May 14 – 23

This trip is dedicated to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. A program overview would include seeing six modern and classic productions, discussions before and after each play, and other festivities, along with exploring the nature in Oregon.

Courses covered:

LIBA 300, Core Seminar II – The Character(s) of Society,

THTR 121, New Plays: New Perspectives,

THTR 430, Special Topics: Acting Shakespeare.

Australia and New Zealand

May 3 – 31

On this trip, students will have the opportunity to experience South Pacific cultures. Taking tours through historic Hype Park Barracks, Blue Mountains, the historical Rocks area of old Sydney, and many other nature parks, students can take part in many nature sight-seeing trips.

PHSC 201, Contemporary Issues of Science.

Toulouse, France 

May 7 – 24

The main focus of this program is for students to be cultural immersed and to familiarize themselves in the community’s past, while learning how it has shaped it’s present.

COMM 352, Featuring Writing.

Copenhagen, Denmark and Hamburg, Germany 

May 3 – 19

This trip is focused on the provision of healthcare and social service to marginalized populations. Students will experience the culture, learn about influences of urban and rural health and social service professionals, visit museums, castles, and amusement parks, and engage with faculty at a university.

SOC 315, Social Problems,

LIBA 450, Core Seminar III.

Peru

May 9 -20 

Students on this trip will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World and experience the history and culture of Peruvians people with trips to Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo’s ruins, the Inca fortress, and a floating village. This trip showcases Machu Picchu.
