No Time To Die

“The name’s Bond, James Bond.”

This iconic line is spoken by one of the most well-known characters in action movie history, James Bond.

Over the last 40 years, Bond movies have been some of the most popular action films worldwide. The first man to play the character was none other than Sean Connery. He was one of the most recognizable actors who played the character of Bond. The next actor who played agent 007 was George Lazenby, but he only did one movie until the next actor, Roger Moore, took on the role in 1973. It was not until 1987 that Timothy Dalton became the actor and then in 1995 the actor changed hands to Pierce Brosnan. He played 007 until 2002. Since 2006, there has been one actor who has taken up the name of Bond and that man’s name is Daniel Craig. This is probably the most recognizable actor who has played the action star and his latest movie is entitled, “No Time to Die.”

This was the first time I have seen a Bond film, and it was very interesting in a few ways. In “No Time to Die,” Bond has been retired for about five years until a couple of his colleagues seek him out from Jamaica to pull him right back into action to locate a missing MI6 scientist. Once Bond has been found by his colleagues, he is briefed on the mission, which is to rescue the kidnapped scientist who it turns out is far more dangerous than expected because he is linked to a mysterious villain who has his hands on dangerous new technology. That’s all I will say without spoiling it because it is a movie that is worth seeing for yourself in the theater.

The next thing I want to touch on about this film is how the character of Bond has changed. Of course there are a few ways the character has changed throughout the last 40 years’ worth of movies. The first way that the character of Bond has changed is the actors themselves who have portrayed Mr. Bond. The reason for this is that each actor from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig and everyone else in between has a different portrayal of the character which in turn means that the movies have their own uniqueness due to the actors.

The second way the character has changed would be the movies themselves. The movies have become more advanced and more dramatic since 1962. Bond has interacted with women in a lot of different ways throughout the movies and it has indeed changed. The one way that the character hasn’t changed is that he still has the classic, “doesn’t trust anyone” attitude about him and it is apparent in this movie. It is important to know that this is Daniel Craig’s last film as Bond, and so “No Time to Die” needs to entertain on its own terms, provide a sense of finality for this chapter of the character, and even hint at the future of the spy with a license to kill. “No Time to Die” is very well put together despite how long it took the film to come out, but it is a suspenseful roller coaster thrill ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end.
