A look into Muslim’s eyes bring awareness to Grand View’s community

Iyyad Rayyan giving a presentation on ISIS through a Muslims Eyes

As most people know, a hot topic in our world today are the attacks on Paris by ISIS. Many people have had a negative image of Muslims and the Islamic religion because of the attacks. Grand View student, Iyyad Rayyan, comes from the Muslim faith and decided enough was enough and wanted to share how he felt about ISIS through a Muslim’s eyes.

“Regardless of nationality, regardless of religions, people lost lives. Violence is everywhere. As humans, in the progressive time we are in 2015, it is still occurring,” Rayyan said.

Surprised by the positive feedback received after the mass email about the presentation, the location was moved to a larger facility. Senior sports management major, Darrin Graham, felt well informed after the presentation and was very thankful that he attended.

“I thought that the presentation was really well done. He was extremely honest and very concise and was able to get his point across without throwing a lot of fluff into it,” Graham said.

“I appreciate that he was able to bring into it people like Christians, Judaists and all other people on the path; it was not just about Muslims,” Graham said.

During the presentation Rayyan showed graphs and statistics to help prove his point that terrorism is displayed in all cultures and religions. This is a problem all around our world. Rayyan’s presentation was also there to inform students and staff about the faith and religion in the act of Jihan, the Islamic religion.

“Spirituality struggle within oneself against sin” said Rayyan.

“If anyone slew an innocent person it would be as if he slew the whole mankind and if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole mankind” (Quran 5:32)
