Fuller House made its Netflix debut on February 26 and was renewed for Season Two only a few days later. Full House first aired September 22, 1987, and ran for eight seasons.

It focused on a newly widowed father raising his three daughters with the help of his brother-in-law and best friend. The show was off-air for 20 years but has made a recent comeback with the Netflix special Fuller House. Key returning characters are D.J. Tanner, Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibler. Danny Tanner, Joey Gladstone and Jesse and Becky Katsopolis make special guest appearances throughout the season but do not appear in every episode. Michelle Tanner, who was played by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, will not be returning to the show as of now.

There have been recent rumors that for Season Two, Michelle Tanner might be recasted.

Fuller House focuses on the same storyline, with D.J. Tanner being a newly widowed mom. Her sister Stephanie and best friend, Kimmy, move into to help her raise her three boys.

When the show ended in May 1995, most people were not pleased. Stephen Winzenburg, who has worked in media since 1971 and has conducted three decades of research on sitcoms, got hooked on the show with his family during the second season.

“The show was cancelled even though it was still doing pretty well on TV, and the report at the time was that John Stamos didn’t want to continue the show…The irony now is that John Stamos is the one that brought it back,” Winzenburg said.

Winzenburg felt that although he is excited for Fuller House he doesn’t expect the show to be as good as the original.

“I don’t have high expectations because they already tried to (turn) Boy Meets World into Girl Meets World, and we were so excited, and we don’t like it at all,” Winzenburg said. “The main stars in Full House won’t be there every week on every episode. It’s not focused on the older people but the younger people raising their own kids, and that’s what happened with Boy Meets World. I’m not so sure it’s going to be that great.”
