What would you do during a robbery?

Two Drake students were robbed at gunpoint Thursday, Nov. 1 on the walkway near the 1200 block of 34th Street. Nobody was physically injured but both had their wallets taken.

This is the third robbery that has taken place near Drake University’s campus in the last four weeks.

Unfortunately, Grand View has not been immune to these robberies. Last weekend, several students had their cars broken into in the freshmen parking lot which is located next to the Johnson Wellness Center.

GV freshmen McKayli Coleman was one of the victims who had her car broken into on the night of Friday, Nov. 2. The assailant used a crowbar to pry open her door and stole several items.

“I always lock my car,” said Coleman. “They stole my purse, which had my drivers license, my social security card and my bank information in it.”

Along with the purse, they stole her auxiliary cord and a portable charger. Coleman filed a police report and put a hold on her card at the bank as soon as she could.

In total, six cars were reportedly broken into on that night.

In response to the streak of campus crimes, Viewfinder took to campus to ask students what they can do to be better prepared for situations like this?
