GoPuff, 24/7 Delivery

Have the late night munchies? Need cat food or groceries but “The Bachelor” is on? GoPuff is the app for you.

GoPuff is an online delivery store as well as an app. There are 11 different categories to order from and even subcategories inside of those main categories. Some of the options are drinks, munchies, frozen, pet parent, breakfast and even smoke shop.

The ordering process is pretty easy. You have to download the app and enter your phone number. It will then send you a confirmation code to type in. After you put your confirmation code in, you have to put your email address in and enter your address. From there, it is just up to you on what you order.

I ordered a blue Gatorade, Pizza Rolls and Pringles. I ordered it at 9 p.m., and it was delivered to me at 9:20 p.m. James, the delivery driver, seemed like he was in a rush. I paid online so when he dropped it off, he was quick to get out of there. The total was $12.68.

“I have worked at GoPuff for four months,” James said. “I chose this as a part-time job because they do a good job of working around your schedule, and they pay well. I make $15 an hour and usually drive anywhere from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. or later.”

GoPuff is like an online grocery store. You order, and the delivery shows up at your door in less than 30 minutes, depending on your location. The delivery rate is $1.79 per order, no matter what time you order.

Most of the items are a little overpriced compared to a grocery store or even gas station prices. For example, one Peace Tea is usually $1 at a gas station, but on GoPuff, it is $2.29 plus the $1.79 delivery fee. Juul pods, normally $14 at a store, are $25 on the GoPuff app.

The deliveries come straight from a warehouse. There are no extra stops at the stores, and that is why their delivery time is so fast.

Out of the 60 cities that GoPuff is in, almost all of the warehouses are open 24/7. This includes a warehouse near Grand View.

They are there to help you with late-night snacks. When you aren’t wanting to get up and drive to the store, they are there to deliver for you whenever you need.

Although some of the items are pricier on the app, you are still getting what you want in less time than it could take you to get in your car and drive to the store to get whatever it is you are wanting.

GoPuff is unique in their advertising. They have an ad on Snapchat, so when you are scrolling through stories, you can’t miss it. There is music playing with it and bright colors that show some of their best products. They also have an ad on Instagram.

“I heard about GoPuff from some social media,” said GV student Kyra Larkin. “I constantly was running across it but never really thought much of it. One night my roommate and I really wanted Ben and Jerry’s, so we got the app, ordered Ben and Jerry’s, and it was delivered to us in 15 minutes. It was a few dollars more expensive than a grocery store’s price, but it is very convenient for when you are not wanting to get out of the house and drive to get it yourself.”

When speaking to one of the delivery workers, he talked about how great of an environment he works in. Surprisingly enough, he said that the atmosphere of the warehouse really isn’t too chaotic and everything runs pretty smooth. He said it is helpful that every person has their own role and job to do, so things get done in a smooth and efficient way.

“During my four months of working for GoPuff, I have had some weird deliveries,” James said. “A lot of the weird deliveries I have had came from the ‘sexy time’ section. It gets to be a little weird at times, but I get a good laugh out of it.”

James said he is always busy, which helps his time go by fast. Over the years, he has been able to see the company take off and skyrocket in sales. GoPuff’s company is now worth $8.25 million, and for over a year, its revenue has increased 25 percent month-over-month. The company is continuing to add new products to its app and is still trying to get its name out there to boost the business.
